Philadelphia:   Message Board: PhilESwingDance http://www.phileswingdance.com PhilESwingDance is the message board and calendar for the Philadelphia area Swing scene. This is the best source of information on all things swing in Philadelphia. The Jazz Attic (formerly Tokio) http://www.thejazzattic.com This dance is held every Thursday at the Community Center of St. Mary Church - 39th and Locust. Progressive lesson series is taught from 8:15-9:15 pm (Basics) on a variety of dances such as Lindy Hop, Balboa, and Shag. A DJ'd social dance is open to everyone with a great group of friendly dancers and is held from 9:15-midnight ($5) with local DJs rotating through each week. Check out their website for information on when the next lesson series is starting and how to register.   Lindy And Blues (LaB) http://www.lindyandblues.com LaB is a weekly lesson and dance held at 4701 Pine St (at 47th): Take the Lead Dance Studio. Blues lesson at 8 pm. Lindy lesson at 8:30 pm. Dance 9-11:30 pm ($5). This is a popular, welcoming dance in a beautiful studio with a great floor. DJ's from the area and beyond. LaB brings in teachers for workshops a few times a year, and they award scholarships for out-of-town dance events to committed students in our community. This all-volunteer organization's mission is to create a friendly, dynamic and inspiring environment in Philadelphia for people to learn and practice Lindy Hop and Blues dance. Philadelphia Swing Dance Society http://www.swingdance.org The Philadelphia Swing Dance Society (PSDS) hosts non-profit swing dances, usually on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. These dances almost always have live bands and cost about $12. They also include a free, non-progressive East Coast and Lindy Hop lesson at the beginning of every dance.   West Philly Swingers http://dolphin.upenn.edu/~wpswing The West Philly Swingers are the University of Pennsylvania's undergraduate swing group. They stress social dancing, and perform twice a year for the campus community.   Outside of Philadelphia:   Pottstown Swing Dance http://www.swingkat.com/index.html DJ'd dances every Friday and Tuesday nights, with progressive lesson series before the dances. Also dances on some Saturdays and other evenings. Weekend dances often have a free, nonprogressive beginner lesson before the dance. Jersey Jumpers http://www.centraljerseydance.org/event/Jersey-Jumpers.html This dance caters to all types of swing dancers and takes place every third Friday in the Princeton, NJ area. Lessons are offered at the beginning of every dance. Dances are usually DJ'd, and occasionally have live bands.
